Peter Lyons, a former long serving Public Interest Monitor, focuses his practice on corporate and regulatory compliance and serious criminal prosecutions. He has more than 30 years’ experience, representing corporates and high net worth individuals in corporate, regulatory and criminal matters and professional discipline.
He attended the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and has completed a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Laws, a Master of Arts (Justice Studies) and a Master of Business Administration. He was admitted to practice in 1986.
With extensive legal and senior management experience in the government sector including the Crime and Corruption Commission, the Queensland Law Society (QLS) and several national and State based not for profit organisations, as well as private practice he is uniquely placed, as a Special Counsel, to offer a unique service that seeks to respond quickly and informatively to clients offering a strategic plan forward to resolve a matter whilst safeguarding their rights and reputation.
Peter has a special interest in the role that the profession plays with regard to the most vulnerable members of our community. Having worked and lead several community legal centres he appreciates the tireless work of practitioners in that sector of legal services. He has actively assisted in several not for profit boards and is currently an active member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation.
